Successful Resume Writing Tips
Ensure resume relates directly to your career goal. Be selective, brief and concise.
Adapt your resume for each job opportunity.
Include a daytime phone #. Email, pagers & cell phones are very helpful to include.
Objective - ensure it doesn't limit your options. This field is optional.
Edit and edit again. Double check spelling and grammar. Have a friend or co-worker proofread your resume as a double check.
Make it easy to read - point form is best.
Do not list supervisors, supervisors phone #'s or reason for leaving. References should be on a separate page & be presented at an interview.
References should include recent work references. Manager/supervisors are preferred.
Skills are an important aspect of the resume. This includes technical and self-management skills.
Use Action Verbs - organizing, scheduling, supervising, coordinating, administering, directing, planning, training, operating, verifying, etc.
Emphasize your accomplishments & skills. Be specific on how skills were obtained and/or utilized.
Do not include SIN#, birth date, height, weight, citizenship or marital status.
Remember your resume is a reflection of you and your work.
Email - ensure your e-mail address is appropriate for job hunting. If not you may want to set up a web mail (e.g. hotmail, yahoo, etc.) for job hunting purposes.
